UFC Partners with Three Square Foodbank for day of Volunteering with UFC’s Summer Interns

Members Of UFC’s 2021 Internship Group Traveled To Three Square Foodbank For A Day Of Volunteering As Their Summer Residencies Concluded

Las Vegas — On Thursday, July 29, members of UFC’s internship group traveled to Three Square Foodbank for a day of volunteering, as their summer residencies concluded.

Three Square Foodbank a longstanding charitable partner of UFC, serves as Southern Nevada’s only food bank, and largest hunger relief organization that provides assistance to the residents of Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark Counties.

During the event, 18 interns helped in the volunteer room for two hours, packing and sorting 9,367 pounds of donated Amazon products which equaled 7,690 meals. The team also helped pack 650 meals for the Meals on Wheels Program. During the entire two-hour session, the team packaged materials that provided 8,340 meals to Southern Nevadan community members.

“Long-standing partnerships are crucial to Three Square’s operations, allowing us to continue distributing food to Southern Nevadans in need,” said Brian Burton, President and Chief Executive Officer at Three Square Foodbank. “We are deeply grateful to UFC and their incredible commitment to knocking out hunger in our community. Their recent volunteer activities provided 8,340 meals for our hungry neighbors across the valley. Their tremendous efforts and dedication further our pursuit of a hunger-free community.”

UFC Human Resources Manager Ashley Corbari and finance and accounting intern Noor Mohamed worked directly with Three Square volunteer coordinator Riley Beck and manager Emily Feak to organize logistical support activities, as well as packaging support for the deliveries.

“I used to volunteer with Three Square when I was in high school, so it was great to come back and help package and deliver goods to my local community,” said legal and regulatory intern Emily Barton.

In 2020, Three Square Foodbank packaged and donated more than 60 million pounds of food to residents in need throughout Southern Nevada, as one in six individuals struggle with hunger and one in four children live in food-insecure households.

With the total number of local families in need doubling since the beginning of the pandemic, Three Square has seen a continuous rise in local assistance from volunteers and organizations, such as UFC, who have joined the non-profits charitable activations annually since 2010.
